Frequently Asked Questions about Body Contouring Plastic Surgery

Swelling after abdominoplasty is more significant than with other procedures and may last several weeks or even months. Most of the initial swelling subsides in the first 2 to 3 weeks, but there may be residual swelling for several months until the tissues settle completely.

The Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) uses the patient’s own fat, extracted by liposuction, to augment and shape the buttocks. Butt implants are solid silicone devices that are surgically inserted to increase the volume of the buttocks. The BBL offers more natural results in texture and appearance, as well as allowing for a more complete reshaping of the area.

Generally, it is recommended to wear a compression garment (girdle) for approximately 4 to 6 weeks after liposuction. The exact length of time may vary depending on the extent of the procedure and Dr. Morfa’s recommendations. The girdle helps reduce swelling, promotes healing and contours the body.

A full abdominoplasty usually leaves a horizontal scar on the lower abdomen above the pubic area, the length of which depends on the amount of skin removed. There will also be a scar around the navel as it is repositioned. Partial abdominoplasties leave shorter scars. Dr. Morfa will strive to make the scars as inconspicuous as possible.
